The Seven Species Aglow

The Seven Species ( Shivat HaMinim) are listed in Deuteronomy 8: 

" A land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive trees and honey."

The seven species traditionally understood are:

1. Wheat - chittah
2. Barley- we'orah
3. Grapes-gefen
4. Figs- te'enah
5. Pomegranates- rimon
6. Olives-zayit
7. Dates-tama

 The Seven Species are the sacred plants of Israel.

This is a collagraph/monoprint. The collagraph is the background, and consists of wheat and barley. The monoprint are the images of olives, grapes, pomegrantates, dates, and figs. A monoprint is hand painted. The collagraph is an impression of the actual plants of wheat and barley. This piece was complicated to created, and took several runs through the flat bed press.
