The Flying Geese pattern is part of the Quilt Codes of The Underground Railroad. When displayed for those fleeing slavery, the message was to follow the way north as indicated by the direction that the geese were flying.
A collograph. A raised image that's created on a flat plate. The plate is sealed, inked, run through a flatbed press with soaked cotton rag paper laid on top to transfer the image -unframed.
